operated extreme martial arts located on elm street. he also ran an after-school program for trace elementary in san jose. police say that's where he met the 14 year-old victim and carried out the assaults from august 2020 through june of 2021, the victim and their family no longer live in the area and were out of state when they reported these incidents, ramirez was arrested back on june 9th. he faces multiple charges, including 4 counts of rape of a child under 14. also in san jose this afternoon, authorities are investigating after a suspicious device was found at a home in the willow glen neighborhood. this happened in the area of ko and delmas avenue. police say the bomb squad was brought in and rendered that device safe. they say they're still working to determine the type of device and there is no threat to the public at this time. >> san mateo county supervisors have voted to approve 1 million dollars in funding to support planned

parenthood. that money will go towards equipment and technology. >> to improve access to reproductive health care in the county. the county's plan also includes. creating a buffer zone around planned parenthood clinics in unincorporated parts of the county to protect patients and employees from any harassment. the county will also fund a advocacy and advocacy agenda for the next board meeting in august. planned parenthood mar monte will get this money. it has a network of community clinics across california and nevada with 3 locations in san mateo. according to a report released in 2021. 26 states are certain or likely to ban abortion if roe v wade is overturned. the man who scaled sales force tower last month is at it again. take a look. he calls himself a prolife spiderman. >> he this 700 foot tall building in oklahoma this morning. he's doing this to protest abortion. his name is mason. champ, according to his

public relations firm in the last month, he has also scaled the new york times building. you didn't use any climbing gear this morning he was met by police once he reached the top. have. coalition the ap, i community organizing asian justice rally today. they're showing support for the family of thai grandfather, viecha raton, up hockey, who was killed last year by being forcefully pushed to the ground in broad daylight. the groups demanding justice for all victims of anti asian hate crimes. they met outside the hall of justice on bryant street ahead of a preliminary hearing for the suspect charged in vicious death. organizers say they will show out in solidarity every time the suspect is called to court. >> we are all united and the solid is there is a strong and ready pollo food that make us

president trump's top advisers saying they told him his claims of widespread election fraud were baseless. the hearing that was set for tomorrow was supposed to touch on the justice are on the department of justice. now thursday's hearing is still on that one is expected to look into former president trump's efforts to pressure then vice president mike pence to refuse to certify the election results. police in san francisco are looking for the driver who left the scene of a deadly accident happened near the intersection of mission street and 20st street just after 1 o'clock this morning, 3 people were injured in the accident. at least one person died from their injuries. the other 2 were taken to the hospital. the driver of one of the cars involved in that crash left the scene. also in san francisco, police have arrested a teen they believe is responsible for shooting and car crash. that happened over the weekend. police say a man was shot and injured at 3rd street and newcomb avenue in the bayview district on saturday night. shortly after

the shooting. police say the driver crashed into another car with a family of 3 inside and ran off. police say they are investigating the shooting as gang violence. over to the east bay. now where a carjacking in oakland's chinatown ended with a man being dragged by his own car. the incidents prompting the head of the oakland chinatown, chamber of commerce to warn those who live in the area to stay on alert. kron four's dan kerman has that story. >> on sunday afternoon, just before one a man seen here in this video gets out of his car in front of the one key supermarket in oakland's chinatown, but leaves the motor running and i'm never would have he did that. you know, he would be a big time because it was so many people in too. >> area. and, you know, it's not maybe take 10, 15 seconds to loading up the december ice to his cop. >> but in those seconds, another man gets into his car and begins to drive off. the driver, grabs onto his car and is dragged before he eventually. let's go. the

still need to be very, very involvement. so pay attention. dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> to the south bay now where a 15 year-old girl in san jose is recovering after being shot in the back with a pellet gun. 15 year-old gianna that a rally was shot friday while walking home from the mall says the doctors thought her wound was just a shallow cut at first. but then a follow-up x-ray revealed the pellet was in one of her lungs, which have collapsed. i was shot. there wasn't that much it just kind of like. >> hit me. and i didn't really understand what happened like, oh, my god, there's a bull in your long. your lungs collapsed. and then they operated on me. >> a paramedic told that the rallies, father, she was the 4th pellet gun victim of the day at santa clara valley. medical center, possibly due to a social media trend. the alameda police department warned parents on monday of a

viral tiktok challenge which encourages people to shoot random targets with water pellets from airsoft guns. san jose police say they're investigating 2 other pellet gun shootings that happened that day. a 42 year-old woman was shot in the parking lot of a walmart on stevens creek boulevard. and a 9 year-old girl was shot in the back near the westgate mall. all right. we do want to talk to you a little bit about those warriors. the dubs now just one win away from their 4th nba title in 8 years. they beat the boston celtics last night in a fairly dominant performance despite steph curry having the worst game of the finals. kron four's will tran has highlights. >> the warriors, they have 2 numbers that think about as they are in boston for thursday's game 6. the number one. one win away from another nba title 3 for that to happen. they need the boston celtics. the lose 3 consecutive games. they gave

the celtics the number 2 for the first time in the nba playoffs. not just the finals, but the playoffs that the boston celtics last. >> back to back games. they were on the verge. however, of keeping that streak alive. as far as not losing consecutive games because it was pretty close in the 3rd quarter. they went into halftime with the warriors up 12 points. but then in the 3rd quarter, which typically is the warriors quarter. but in this particular case, the boston celtics 19 to 4 run close the gap and in the 4th quarter, anything could possibly happen, especially when our guys, steph curry was a little bit off his game that 233 consecutive games with at least 1, 3 pointer made, which is an nba record that came to a screeching halt because he went o for 9 yesterday. he tried and tried to at least 1, 3 pointer. but that didn't happen. still ended up with 16 points. however, steph curry is the first to admit, yes,

today, concord city council will decide whether to adopt an anti harassment protection ordinance for renters advocates are demanding safe, affordable and healthy housing for all conquered families. that policy would put new protections in place for renters dealing with abuse of landlords who threaten, harass or intimidate them if passed. landlords who violate the policy could be fined. that meeting will start at 06:30pm tonight. several advocates are set to offer testimony. to the north bay now or vacation rentals and wine country are facing an extended moratorium snow. the board of supervisors just approved a new order blocking new permits on rentals. many who showed up were not pleased with the decision. kron four's terisa stasio. joining us now from sonoma. she's got more on tough issue to reset. well, sonoma county, as you can imagine, is a destination place. beautiful here, right? just behind. you can see how gorgeous it is on this.

>> june day. so the board of supervisors took a look at this a supervisor, a spokesperson tells me that they received 200 applications, new applications for vacation rentals. and they said that taking a look at the current ordinance that that was just too many. so what they decided to do was to extend the moratorium. now they say that this is all important to make sure that they are balancing the needs on the community. as well. i was tourism. >> which is very important for this area. you may be attending a wedding or you may be it coming here for a vacation. i just hope to talk with the spokesperson from the permanent policy department. here's what he had to say about balancing the needs of the community. >> the county is known worldwide as one of the most beautiful exists and people want to come here and tourism is an important part of our economy. but also we have a

housing prices and understand win over concentration of vacation rentals can do to making less you know, creating some a nuisance is for the people that want to live in sonoma county full time. so we're looking at ways to balance the needs of the communities. also, you know, the you know, need to have tourism and have people come and visit us and support the economy you towns and communities in that way as well. >> so the old moratorium was set to expire. so this just continues. that moratorium know. well, the moratorium is set for a year, but in august, the board of supervisors here in sonoma county are going to be looking at a new ordinance. and so everyone would be able to apply for new permits and you would be up against that new ordinance. a sew ordinance is supposed to tackle issues such as noise. complaints,

wednesday thursday friday. look at that. that cooldown begins along the bay shore. upper 70's at the start of the friday, mid 60's and along the coast here in the low 60's for much of the week. back to you. thank you. reyna in the south bay, a 15 year-old boy is dead after he was shot in east palo alto. that shooting happened around 9 o'clock last night on manhattan avenue. when police arrived, they found the boy with gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital. >> where he later died. police do not have a description of the shooter at this point. for friends opened 8 ball skate shop near lake merritt last spring. it's been a pretty smooth ride going into business together up until this sunday. one of the co-owners says it happened. the their shop got burglarize just after 4 o'clock monday morning, a guy broke into their store on 15th street between webster and harrison. the thief heated up the front door with a torch and then

threw something at it to shatter the class that set off an alarm. so we backed off only to come back about 40 minutes later and finish off what he had started when the thief got any managed to swipe an ipad, some skate boards and clothing in about 3 trips to and from his truck. this is a we do have a photo of the truck there and the man responsible for the burglary. the owners do not recognize him. they want to thank the generous community members who stepped in to help them out by donating funds and sending them more merchandise. >> financially and morally. a little we're going through right now for the community. we actually set up a gofundme. and we're getting a lot of people who actually helping which is amazing. >> someone walking by called police to report that burglary. apparently the thief did try to head up another business across the street before targeting that storm.

welcome back in the east bay, castro valley pride is rallying together in support of the lgbtq community. >> after a group of proud boys disrupted a drag queen story time at a library. alameda county sheriff's deputies say those men entered library saturday afternoon, shouting homophobic, an anti lgbtq slurs. kron four's amanda hari was at the rally. >> the rally started with a group of just a few people but grew to a larger group. they were holding signs of support and waving flags. they tell me they wanted to counter a negative message with a positive one. the library is the public's library and the public really means everyone include the lgbt community. >> people honked their horns in support of a group rallying for the lgbtq community. >> castro valley pride leaders say they organized this rally to counter the message from a group of men that entered the library saturday afternoon. >> during drag queen story hour shouting homophobic, an

>> welcome back. our top story this half-hour, fears of a recession are growing as the fed continues to take action to reduce historic inflation. correspondent trevor shirley has a look at the delicate balance there trying to strike. but the economy. well, it's not the first time this year we've seen interest rates go up and it's probably not going to be the last time either. >> as the government continues to try to deal with rising prices. it's sapping the strength of a lot of families as early as wednesday. the federal reserve is expected to raise interest rates again this time by as much as 3 quarters of a point. >> does the president think the fed is running the risk of hiking rates too as it tries to tame inflation? the federal reserve is nice to have their independence. the white house insists the president won't interfere with the federal reserve as it tries to slow rising prices. inflation

he's committed to staying, quote, nimble, but humble as his agency continues to try different ways to deal with inflation reporting in washington. i'm trevor shirley. >> well, we all know gas prices are dizzyingly high here in the bay area, but waiting to fuel up when the warning light appears in your gas gauge could. and in an emergency situation in the 1st quarter of 2021. triple a received 153,000 service calls for drivers being out of gas. the agency attributes the bulk of the increase in gas related service calls our folks getting back on the road in the wake of the pandemic. aaa spokesperson john treanor cautions drivers from risking running out of gas, though, by trying to stretch their fuel to limit between filling up. >> well, that little light might be a warning that you only have a gallon or so left. you want to fill up. it's not a now's the time to fill mark the way for that light to go on. don't push it to the next think about your car in the

long run. think about the cost of getting a new fuel pump are repairing the damage. a cost of a cost for service and the most important thing time. think about how much time it will be spending. if you break down the side of the roadway for cast. >> trainer goes on to say even though californians can't escape paying the highest gas prices in the country, it's going to cost you a whole lot more. if you regularly tried to drive your car on empty. california state lawmakers did pass their version of the state budget on monday. but debate continues between lawmakers and the governor on several issues, including gas relief that was promised to californians months ago. kron four's ashley zavala explains for those talks. stand. >> this again is a historic budget. california lawmakers monday sent the governor version of the state's 300 billion dollar budget. 2 days ahead of their constitutional deadline of june 15th. but the state spending plan is not finished as negotiation continues with the governor on several items.

>> republicans rejected noting the budget is incomplete. go tell the public and to purchase such a we've got a budget on time. >> can we told us it is such that we represent. what's in budget. >> likely not state lawmakers have spent the last several weeks figuring out how to spend taxpayer dollars. that includes a historic nearly 100 billion dollar surplus. democrats applauded their budget. that would put a record amount of money to reserves. put 40 billion dollars toward infrastructure boost the state's funding formula for public schools. plus investments for housing and transportation. this is about not just this generation of california, but the next generation of californias to come. that's about. but republicans say the budget does not do enough to address the state's incoming crises, including drought, extreme wildfires strain on the electrical grid and a looming recession. state senator brian dolly who is running for governor, weighed in during the debate. stock markets taking some big hits. >> we're not going to see.

surpluses like this. again, another unresolved piece of the state's financial puzzle, direct payments promised months ago to californians in response to rising gas prices and inflation in a budget related hearing monday, the legislature plan to move ahead with sending money based on income and family size. >> while newsom's administration told lawmakers it prefer sending money based on car ownership. this has been the same debate for months that despite administration looks forward to working with the assembly and the senate took come to a final budget agreement. the provides media and significant relief to californians in the face of rising costs. now it's still unclear when that line item will be resolved. the state's new fiscal year starts july first at the state capitol. ashley zavala kron. 4 news. habitat for humanity is launching a new multimillion-dollar initiative aimed at bridging the racial gap in homeownership. >> the nonprofit will pump 25 million dollars into programs to address the disparity. census data shows black homeownership rates are nearly 30% less than white

americans. that's the widest gap in 40 years. >> habitat hoping to help 3 million black americans own homes by the year 2030, this initiative is largely possible because of a 436 million dollar donation that they received back in march. the midterm elections are still going for several states across the country. they're testing former president trump's influence on the polls. this round of ballots will be the first since the start of the january 6 hearings. correspondent joe khaleel has a look at how the midterms are expected to shake out. another major test for former president trump and the republican party establishment. as for states head to the polls for their primary elections in south carolina, up to trump backed challengers. look to unseat incumbent congressman tom rice and congresswoman nancy mace rice. one of a handful of republicans who voted to impeach the former president. >> facing challenger russell fry just this week. rice double down on his impeachment

bridge to collapse and just be swept away. the news you can see here while a home also carried off in that strong stream. all entrances to the park have been closed indefinitely as this goes on electricity in the entire park is out. drinking water now considered unsafe in many areas. 900 residents in the town of gardiner, montana, just outside yellowstone's north entrance are trapped right now because the only road in and out has been cut off by these flood waters. evacuations and rescues from that area are ongoing. and we've had a really great day so far. it has been a warm one throughout the bay area. so if you're going. >> the outside today, make sure you stay hydrated. make sure you have that sunscreen on temperatures are going to be warm today into tomorrow. clear skies, no rain in the forecast. but what we have had is a high-pressure system that has been building since yesterday today and tomorrow.

welcome back. down in the south bay, there's a farmers market helping those experiencing food insecurity, food bank organizers in san jose say they're doing their best to meet the needs of the community. >> but as kron four's madyun reports, the volunteers say that could use a little more help. >> these volunteers with the second harvest food bank of silicon valley are here at the school of arts and culture of mexican heritage it settles a continuing the effort to fight food, insecurity of the south bay. at the end of 2021.

continuing into the new year, the food bank served on average 400,000 people per month. >> and then in march, we saw that number jumped to 470,000 and that's because of inflation and just food and fuel prices. i'm for so many low-income households. that's a large part of your budget. so when those prices go up, that's when people start to make tough choices about not being able to put food on the table. and that's why we've seen such an increase in need. i noted is going to be a hot one. so we truly appreciate you guys being here. >> food bank volunteers are also ready low these days. here you see about a dozen living they had a short supply of volunteers. and if i could, could i volunteer for them? and i said absolutely. >> there's a lot of people in need and those the food makes a huge difference in their in their family and nobody should go hungry. >> yeah. the second harvest doesn't just hand out free groceries. in addition to having the option to pick and

less than other working americans. >> a new development in the june primary election process. a problem with ballots in the central valley delaying the results there. the san joaquin county registrar of voters says >> there was a printing error on the ballots bar code. and as many as 30,000 mail-in votes have been rejected, those ballots now need to be duplicated by hand and verified. some critics say the public should have been notified of this issue sooner because election transparency is essential. election officials say their doors are open to anyone questioning the legitimacy of these election results. i want the public to know this is their election. i want them to come in. we're more than happy to give them a tour. walked into the process. if they still have questions. >> let them sit down and observe a specific process if they so wish our doors are open and the public is welcome at any time. >> county registrar's office says they've been assured the printing error won't happen again, but they're putting
